In order to impart high quality education at NUST, it is imperative that the students as well as the faculty members are abreast of Industrial standards and processes. Therefore, with an aim to facilitate students in relating their theoretical knowledge with the practices being followed in the Industry, mechanism to have planned Student Industry Visits was institutionalized in 2017. Industry Visits are mandatory for Undergraduate (UG) students and optional for the Postgraduate (PG) Students at NUST. Student Industry Visits are regularly conducted during each semester. NUST Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) being one of the major stakeholders of Industry Visit Policy, through its network of over more than 150+ Industry partners, has  given a supplemental role to facilitate such visits for the NUST Schools/Colleges.

In order to automate the process of Industry Visits of UG/PG Students at NUST, Student Industrial Visit Application on CMS was developed in March 2019 to further streamline and make the overall process more efficient. Regular Student Visits to the Industry is a tool that enhances capacity building of faculty and students, in particular. Faculty will be able to keep themselves abreast of the current trends in the Industry and students will be able to relate their theoretical knowledge with the best practices being followed in the Industry.

An ever increased involvement and dedication has been shown by all Schools/Colleges in executing the visits. 124 student industry visits were conducted during 2017-18. The number increased to 402 – and increase of 224% – visits in 2019 with the aid of SIVA facilitation system.

Corporate Advisory Council every year participates in array of exhibitions, seminars and expo’s held nationally. Such events not only provide opportunity to showcase our latest technologies developed as a result of R&D but also aids in the collaboration with industry and government.
