A team from NUST visited Din Group Textile Mills Limited on June 17, 2021, to identify areas of mutual interest in the textile industry. Air Vice-Marshal Dr Rizwan Riaz SI(M) Pro-Rector Research, Innovation & Commercialisation (RIC) discussed at length the existing capabilities of NUST in production processes relevant to the sector. Mr S M Naveed, Chairman Din Group, appreciated NUST’s initiative to approach industries in addressing real-world problems.
One key area of discussion was inducting environmental aspects into cloth manufacturing. A recent shift towards UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the society has become a pivotal part of all manufacturing processes and the textile industry is no exception. The chairman invited NUST to engage the Institute of Environmental Sciences & Engineering (IESE) in conducting such studies for the company.
Din Group has agreed to shake hands with NUST in its vision of becoming a sustainable university. Many mutual R&D studies are expected to commence during the months to follow.
