INAUGURATION OF BEGUM YUSUF H. SHIRAZI GIRLS HOSTEL AT PNEC NUST

A new block of girls hostel was inaugurated at Pakistan Navy Engineering College NUST (PNEC NUST), Karachi, on January 1, 2020. The newly inaugurated Begum Yusuf H. Shirazi Girls Hostel has been constructed through the philanthropic support of Atlas Foundation. The hostel was inaugurated by Begum Yusuf H. Shirazi in the presence of all the members of Shirazi family. Begum & Rear Admiral Zahid Ilyas HI (M) S Bt, Commander Karachi also graced the occasion. Large number of naval officers, faculty members and female students also attended the ceremony.
The project was awarded to M/s T S Builders in July 2018 and has been completed at an approximate cost of PKR 35 M. M/s Arch Tec Karachi was the building architect and project consultant. The ground breaking ceremony for the hostel building was conducted on 18 Oct 2018 by Mr Iftikhar H Shirazi, CEO of Atlas Foundation. The newly constructed block has three floors having eight rooms on each floor with a design capacity for 72 female students. Atlas Foundation also sponsored renovation and uplift of the old hostel building at an approximate cost of PKR 5.4 million, which included the expansion of dining hall, construction of new kitchen and roof treatment.
The generous contribution by Atlas Foundation for provision of accommodation facilities to female students is praise worthy act as it will enable girls from far flung areas of Pakistan to be able to study at Pakistan’s leading engineering university in the most secure and conducive environment.
