NUST Innovation & Commercialisation Directorate (I&C) organised a visit of TOTAL PARCO Pakistan Limited on August 11, 2021, to discuss renewable energy sources. The visit arranged came as a follow-up to the MoU signed between both organisations earlier in June, where a consensus was developed on resource and knowledge sharing.

The visit entailed a tour of the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy USPCASE, followed by a presentation on existing capabilities in the energy sector and deliberations on the specific projects in this sector.

Environmental degradation and resource depletion are the ever-increasing areas of concern for any industry, resulting in a shift in focus towards renewable sources. NUST, being a strong proponent of cutting carbon emissions, has developed many state-of-the-art labs focusing on renewable energy production. These labs, housed in USPCAS-E, were also visited by the TPPL team where they were presented with Bio Gas Production Chambers, Solar / PV Testing Stations, and Liquified Natural Gas Production Systems. Additionally, NUST has offered assistance in conducting the Energy Audits of TPPL’s depots and production plants.

While aligning research with Sustainable Development Goals, NUST Innovation & Commercialisation Directorate (I&C) is striving to steer focus towards technologies that contribute to tackling global warming and climate change. In the months to follow, more deliberations will be made with the TPPL team to initiate collaborative R&D projects in this domain.
