The NUST Innovation & Commercialisation team led by Air Vice Marshal Dr Rizwan Riaz SI(M), Pro-Rector Research, Innovation & Commercialisation (RIC) visited Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) on June 17, 2021, at Lahore.
During this interim visit, essential components of forensic labs were identified and compared to the existing capabilities at NUST. Infrastructure requirements along with ISO standards were the key focus areas of analysis. While speaking to the team, Dr Muhammad Ashraf Tahir, Director General PFSA, emphasised on establishing DNA databases. He also mentioned the challenges that these labs are facing. NUST aims to utilise existing research labs relevant to forensic studies in order to facilitate these sophisticated science agencies in further curtailing the crime rate.
