FINAL YEAR PROJECTS (FYP)

With the view to enhance Academia-Industry linkages and prepare our students in line with the latest advancements in industry, we encourage students to prefer industry-specific projects. These projects are conducted by our undergraduate and graduate students during the final year of their programs, mainly in the disciplines of Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Material, Aeronautical, Civil, Environmental, Energy, Renewable Energy, Telecom, Mechatronics, Robotics), Information Technology, Peace & Conflict Studies, Career Advisory, Computer Science, Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Studies, Business Studies, Applied Bio-Sciences, Social & Natural Sciences and Architecture. Such initiatives in the past have helped both, the university students and the industry in finding solutions to the problems being faced by our Industries.
In year 2019, NUST students secured 342 applied R&D projects for sectors such as Civil & Defence. Other than multiple funding opportunities of HEC such as; NRPU, TDF, PSF, ICT R&D funds were also availed by the students which aided them to create and deliver most insistent solutions for multiple industries.
Every year, CAC approaches the industry and inquire about any potential problems faced by their organisations, manufacturing units etc. or any gap which they would like to be addressed. This exercise is conducted in the first quarter of every year, after that the approved lists of projects are sent to the relevant schools for faculty and students to pick from as per their interests. As soon as project choice is finalized, the industry is notified and the student, faculty & industry commence the working on the identified problem/gap.
Later, the findings and potential solution identified by the project team is shared with the industry. If the industry is interested and the solution is viable it can also be commercialized as well.
